Naked! Story Time -- 6/27/23

Craft: Naked Mole Rat Paper Doll
- Print template onto cardstock or heavy paper
- Cut out pieces (naked mole rat, clothes)
- Color pieces
- Glue clothes to naked mole rat


Extension Activities:
- Discuss the importance of clothes.  Talk about what clothes is appropriate for which situations.  Ask your child to create outfits for different occasions.  
- Make a tie-dye t-shirt with your child.  Have your child rubberband a t-shirt in various places.  They can do as much or as few rubberbands as they like.  Then dye the t-shirt using the directions on the dye packet.

Craft: Tiny T. Rex Doorhanger
- Print template at left onto cardstock or heavy paper
- Cut out doorhanger also cutting out circle along dotted lines
- Color doorhanger
- Add stickers so Tiny is not scared of the dark












Extension Activities:
- Have a discussion with your child about their fears.  What are they scared of?  How might they help deal with those fears?
- Make a decorative night light for your child's room.  Buy a night light with a flat "screen".  It can be decorated using Sharpies.

Craft:  Longest Dog
- Print template onto cardstock or heavy paper and cut out
- Color pieces (front and back ends of dog)
- Cut out colored squares of paper
- Glue dog together with as many colored squares between front and back end as you like


Extension Activities:
- Visit a local animal shelter and volunteer to spend time with the dogs.
- Learn about different breeds of dogs by checking out a nonfiction book at the library.  Determine which type of dog is your and your children's favorite.

Craft: Hopping Frog
- Print template onto cardstock or heavy paper and cut out
- Color pieces -- plate (lily pad), flower, and frog
- Glue flower to plate to make lily pad
- Cut small strip of paper and accordian fold
- Glue frog to folded strip of paper
- Glue other end of strip to plate
- Frog should "hop" when pressed down



Extension Activities:
- This week's story time is all about movement.  So get outside and move around.  Take a walk in the park.  Some parks have posted movement boards that direct people to do certain exercises or moves.
- Have a jumping contest.  See who can jump the farthest, highest, longest, etc.

- Plan a potluck meal with family and friends.  Ask each person/family to bring a dish to share with everyone.
- Work on a puzzle together as a group.  
- Discuss with your child about how we are all different and yet also the same.  Ask them to list some ways all people are the same.  Then ask them to list some differences between themselves.
