Goatilocks and the Three Bears -- 7/25/23

Craft: Coffee FIlter Flowers
- Color a coffee filter on both sides
- Fold coffee filter in half and then into quarters before twisting bottom point into flower.  You can adjust the edges to open up the flower some.
- Twist pipecleaner around bottom point of flower for stem






Extension Activities:
- Explain what a fractured fairy tale is to your child.  Then ask them how the traditional tales would change if just one thing was changed in them (ex - Jack is scared of heights while climbing the Beanstalk, Cinderella loses her gloves instead of her shoe).
- Hold a fairy tale movie marathon.  Watch different movie versions of the same fairy tales and see how they are different.

Craft: Standing Cat
- Print template onto cardstock or heavy paper
- Cut out pieces (body, tail, head)
- Color pieces
- Fold body in half so stands on four legs
- Glue head to top of fold of body
- Glue tail to back of body



Extension Activities:
- Play a game of "Copycat".  Have one child show an activity or action (ex - clap sequence, hopping, etc) and then the other children must copy their actions.
- Have fun with Cat in the Hat by either reading the books or watching the movies.

Craft:  Rhyme Match
- Print out template at left onto cardstock or heavy paper
- Color page
- Cut along lines to get ten cards
- Play like a memory match game to find rhyming matches







Extension Activities:
- Play a rhyming game going back and forth with your child(ren) to see how many rhyming matches you can make.  (ex. cat, bat, hat . . .)
- As you read a rhyming book, stop before reading the second rhyming word to see if your child(ren) can guess what the word should be.

Craft: Yawn
- Print template onto cardstock or heavy paper
- Cut out pieces (body, arms, legs)
- Color pieces
- Glue arms and legs to body
- Cut a small piece of yarn and glue to head for hair




Extension Activities:
- Watch a yawning animals video with your child and see who can last the longest without yawning.  (One possible video can be found HERE.  Lots of others can be found on YouTube.)
- Poll each member of your family to see which is their favorite bedtime story to read.  Do they like to read the same story every night?  Do they have a favorite lullaby?
