Craft: Home/Family Picture   

- Print template onto cardstock or heavy paper and cut out

- Color printed side as outside of house

- Draw picture of family on blank side

- Fold to close house up

Extension Activities:

- Go on a color scavenger house in and around your house.  Try to find things of every color.

- Have a picnic in your backyard.  Let the kids help prepare the food and set up the picnic outdoors.  Play some outdoor games for additional fun.

Craft: Swamp Monster

- Print template onto cardstock or heavy paper

- Cut out pieces (head, fins)

- Color pieces

- Glue head into a tube

- Glue fins to side of swamp monster's head

Extension Activities:

- Swamps, bayous, and marshes are all types of wetlands.  Learn more about how they are the same and how they are different.

- Play a game of Leap Frog or Hopscotch using lily pads.  Make simple lily pads from construction paper or draw them with chalk.

Craft: Cactus

- Print template onto cardstock or heavy paper

- Cut out cactus and punch 7-8 holes along edges

- Color cactus

- Cut pipecleaners into 2" pieces

- Thread a pipecleaner piece through each hole and twist to make prickles

Extension Activities:

- Make a sand art picture.  Color white sand by placing some in a plastic baggie along with a piece of chalk.  Roll the chalk around in the bag to get pastel colored sand.  Then glue onto paper to make a picture.

- Make edible no-bake Tumbleweeds.  Click HERE for recipe.

Craft: Fox Headband

- Print template (at left) onto cardstock or heavy paper

- Cut out fox head and color

- Cut two long strips and glue together

- Glue strips to fox head to fit child's head

Extension Activities:

- Collect some fallen leaves.  Make a collage out of the leaves or do some leaf painting with them.

- Go on a nature walk through a forest.  Have your child point out any animals they see.

Craft: Cityscape

- Print template onto cardstock or heavy paper

- Cut out pieces (skyscraper strip, buildings strip, road with cars strip)

- Color pieces

- Fold side tabs on buildings strip and glue to skyscraper strip.  The buildings strip will puff out in front of the skyscrapers.

- Fold side tabs on road strip and glue to other strips.  The road strip will puff out furter in front allowing the whole cityscape to stand.

Extension Activities:

- Take a drive through a city/town.  Give your child a list of places (i.e. grocery store, restaurant, zoo, sports field, etc) for them to point out to you as you drive.

- Have your child build a "city" out of blocks.

- Draw an adventure of your own using your favorite color crayon.  Where will you go?  What will you see?

- Go on a purple scavenger hunt.  How many things can you find that are purple?
