The Alphabet: "H" -- 2/22/22

Craft: H is for Hippo
- Print out template on heavy paper or cardstock
- Cut out pieces (H body, head)
- Color pieces
- Glue head to side of H as shown in picture at left
- Optional: Fold down legs of H to make hippo stand





Extension Activities:
- Practice tracing by having your child trace around his hand.  Search online to see how to turn those hand trancings into a horse, hippo, or hedgehop picture.
- Sing the Hokey Poky.  Make sure to include verses of body parts starting with H (head, hand, hips, etc.)

Craft: G is for Goose
- Draw and cut out an upper case G, two webbed feet, wing, and a beak from heavy paper or cardstock.
- Color pieces.
- Glue feet to bottom of G (body).
- Glue wing along bottom towards the back of the G.
- Glue beak to the upper end of the G.
- Draw on an eye.




Extension Activities:
- Enjoy some gummi bears as a snack.  Practice sorting and color recognition by asking your child to sort them by color or instructing your child to eat the bears in a certain order.
- Have fun with glue.  Make a collage by gluing shapes and pictures onto a large piece of paper.  Practice writing names with glue before adding glitter, sequins, rice, etc.

Craft: F is for Flower
- Print template onto heavy paper or cardstock
- Cut out pieces (f stem, leaves, flower)
- Color pieces
- Glue leaves to bar on sides of "f" stem
- Glue flower to top of "f" stem




Extension Activities:
- Play a game with your child seeing if they know which animals can be found on a farm versus in a zoo, the wild, etc.
- Have a discussion about fire safety and what to do in the case of a fire.

- Print template on heavy paper or cardstock and cut out pieces
- Color pieces
- Glue head to top of E (body)
- Glue tail on bottom left of E
- Glue toes onto bottom two legs of E




Extension Activities:
- Visit the zoo to view and learn more about elephants.
- Have some fun with dyeing eggs different colors.  (It's not just fun as Easter -- but all year round.)
