Family Story Time: I Really Want to See You Grandma -- 5/31/22

Craft: Family Tree
- Print out template on heavy paper or cardstock
- Color tree sheet
- Color leaves and cut out
- Write family member's names of leaves
- Glue leaves to tree






Extension Activities:
- With your child, plan a trip to see family.  Discuss transportation needed, directions, supplies, etc.
- Look at family photos with your child.  See if they can identify the various family members.

Craft: Hippo
- Print template on heavy paper or cardstock
- Color and cut out pieces (hippo body, ears, arms, feet)
- Roll and glue body into tube
- Glue ears to top of body
- Glue feet to bottom of body
- Glue arms to sides of body
- Optional:  Glue heart so hippo is holding it



Extension Activities:
- Have a discussion with your child about how we all need help sometimes.  Ask what they need help doing.  Then ask your child what they could help their parents with.
- Hold a family game night.  Play some favorite board games or classic outdoor games such as tag, hide and seek, etc.

Craft: Sunflower
- Cut out a 3" circle from brown paper and color as center of sunflower
- Cut out 12-15 2" circles from yellow paper
- Fold yellow circles into triangles by folding both sides over the other
- Glue yellow circles around edge of brown circle for petals
- Color a jumbo craft stick green and glue to back of sunflower for stem




Extension Activities:
- Make a family meal together -- each person doing a different part of the meal.  If a child is too young to help cook/bake, they can set the table or make decorations.
- Go on a nature walk together as a family.  Make it fun by incorporating a game such as I Spy or a color scavenger hunt.

- Color pieces of template (body, ears, paws) and cut out 
- Glue ears to top of Hare
- Glue big paws to bottom of Hare for feet
- Glue small paws to sides of Hare for hands





Extension Activities:
- With your child, write your own version of Five Creatures based on your family.
- Be adventurous and try a new food together as a family.

- Glue feet to bottom of monster
- Glue ears/horns where you would like on the monster

- Ask your child to list how the mom in My Monster Mama Loves You So is the same and different from their mom.
- Draw a family portrait together.
