Craft: Train Puzzle

- Print out the template below onto heavy paper or cardstock

- Color picture

- Cut on the lines to make a twelve piece puzzle

Extension Activities:

- Go on a field trip and visit a transportation themed museum or a race track.

- Play a game to see how many of each colored car you can see.  This can be played by watching the road in front of your house or driving/walking through a parking lot.

Craft: Name Train
This week's craft was based on the picture above.  Children were given a die cut train engine to color.  They were also given squares to write their name on for the train cars.  The engine, train cars, and wheels were glued to legal paper to spell out the child's name.

Extension Activities:
- Freight Train shows the different types of train cars.  Have your child figure out what each type of train car would carry.
- Visit the Transportation Museum in Kirkwood, MO.  They have several trains for the kids to explore, as well as other modes of transportation.

Craft: Name Train
This week's craft is pictured above.  The children were given a diecut train engine and then a train car for each letter of their name.  They colored the pieces and then glued them to a thin strip of card stock as a connector.

Literacy Extensions:
- Review different types of transportation.  See how many different types of vehicles your child can name.
- If you are in the St. Louis area, visit the Transportation Museum.  Check out the trains they have on display there.
