Books:
Dad's First Day by Mike Wohnoutka *
Little Penguin Gets the Hiccups by Tadgh Bentley *

Craft: Penguin
Our craft this week was based on the picture at right.  The kids colored cardstock cutout body, tummy, wings and feet before gluing them together to make a penguin.

Literacy Extensions:
- Dad's First Day is a great introduction to empathy for kids.  Talk about feelings and how different people might feel in particular situations.
- After reading Little Penguin Gets the Hiccups learn what penguins really like to eat.  There are several books on penguins at the library.
