Fall Story Time -- October 4-5, 2021

Outdoor Story Times are held weekly on Monday and Tuesday mornings at 10:00 am.  (Registration is required to attend.)  Online Story Times will be posted weekly on Tuesday mornings.  (The video is available to watch for one week before a new one is uploaded.)

Craft: Fall Puzzle
- Print picture at left onto heavy paper or cardstock
- Color picture
- Cut along the straight lines to make a 16 piece puzzle












Extension Activities:
- Go on a fall nature walk.  Look for fall items including fallen leaves, acorns, etc.
- Make an apple birdseed feeder for the fall birds.  Core an apple.  String through a piece of string, rope, etc with a stick tied at the end for a hanger.  Fill the hole with peanut butter mixed with bird seed.  Hang on a tree branch.

Fall Story Time: October 7-8, 2019

Books:

Craft: Paper Plate Leaf Wreath
The children were given a paper plate ring with a piece of yarn tied around it for a hanger.  They could glue small fall-colored die-cut leaves on the wreath.  They were also given 5 larger white die-cut leaves to color and glue on.  They could make it into a family wreath by writing the names of their family members on the larger leaves.

Extension Activities:
- Red Are the Apples talks about the different colors seen in the fall.  Play a game of I Spy using fall colors as you go on a fall walk.
- Create a leaf collage.  Collect various fallen leaves and glue them onto paper to make pictures.

Craft: Bat Clip
The children colored a bat body and bat wings before gluing them together.  The bat was then glued to a clothespin to clip onto the child's clothes.

Literacy Extensions:
- Moon Glowing gives information on four different animals' preparations for winter.  Choose some additional animals to learn about and check out books about them from the library.
- Go on a fall nature walk.  Try to find different colored leaves, acorns, animal prints, etc.
