Story Times are held weekly on Monday and Tuesday mornings at 10:00 am. A monthly virtual Story Time is posted the first Tuesday of the month on the library's Facebook page.  It is available to view for one month before the next video is posted.

Craft:  Paper Plate Pumpkin
- Tear a piece of orange paper into pieces (about 1")
- Tear a piece of black paper into smaller pieces (about 1/2")
- Glue orange pieces to a paper plate
- Cut out a rectangle from green paper and glue to top of plate for stem
- Glue black pieces on top of orange to make a jack-o-lantern face

Extension Activities:
- Visit a pumpkin patch to pick out a pumpkin.  
- Roast some pumpkin seeds to eat as a snack.  Experiment with different spices to flavor the seeds.  (Visit Roasted Pumpkin Seeds - Kid Food Explorers for various recipes.)

Craft: Happy Pumpkin
- Print out template onto heavy paper or cardstock and cut out pieces

- Color ovals different pumpkin colors

- Glue ovals together to make pumpkin shape.  (Largest oval in the middle with mid-sized ovals on either side and smallest ovals on the ends.)

- Glue on eyes and draw on smile

- Color and glue on short rectangle stem and leaf to top of pumpkin

- Color long rectangle as vine.  Then curl and glue to top by stem and leaf.

Extension Activities:

- Visit a pumpkin patch.  Select a pumpkin to take home and decorate.

- Roast some pumpkins seeds using a little olive oil and various spices (Visit https://wholefully.com/roasted-pumpkin-seeds-six-ways/ for directions and spice recipes).

Craft: Paper Plate Pumpkins
The kids were given a paper plate.  They drew a jack-o-lantern face in the center of the plate.  Orange squares of paper were glued around the edge of the plate.


Extension Activities:
- Visit a pumpkin patch.  Ask your child to describe the various pumpkins as they are in Plumply, Dumply Pumpkin.  (i.e. large, squat, sumptuous, etc)
- Decorate a pumpkin.  If your child is too young to carve the pumpkin, use finger paints or Sharpie markers.

Craft: Jack-O-Lantern Picture
The kids were given a picture of a pumpkin to color.  They then made the jack-o-lantern's mouth and eyes by gluing on three pieces of black yarn (each about 9" long).

Literacy Extensions:
- Carve or paint a jack-o-lantern with your child.  As you are deciding on its features' discuss how different styles of features express different emotions.
- See how many different types of food your child thinks can be made with pumpkins.  If you have carved a pumpkin, save the pumpkin seeds to roast.
