Craft: Socksquatch
I traced the socksquatch on the cover of the book and blew it up a little bigger for a template.  The kids were given cardstock socksquatch cutouts to color.  They could then glue on 1" pieces of rust orange yarn for fur.

Literacy Extensions:
- After reading Socksqatch, have your child come up with reasons for why he was missing a sock at the beginning of the book.
- Make a sock puppet from an old sock.

Craft: Bunch of Grapes
We made a variation of the craft pictured at left.  The children colored a large triangle and drew on a face if they liked.  They then glued on about 15 grapes around the face and a green leaf.

- See how many things you can list that are the color purple.
- Have your child list how the grandfather in Raisin and Grape is like their grandfather and then how they are different.
