Adventures on the Farm -- 6/11/24

Story Times are held weekly on Monday and Tuesday mornings at 10:00 am. A monthly virtual Story Time is posted the first Tuesday of the month on the library's Facebook page.  It is available to view for one month before the next video is posted.

Craft: Horse Bookmark
- Print template onto cardstock or heavy paper
- Cut out pieces (bookmark body, head, tail)
- Color pieces
- Glue head to top of horse's body
- Glue tail midway on back of horse's body so sticking off to side



Extension Activities:
- Review farm animals and their sounds with your child by singing "Old MacDonald Had a Farm".  Ask your child to come up with various farm animals and their sounds.
- Visit a working farm or petting zoo.

Craft: Plane Bookmark
- Print template onto cardstock or heavy paper and cut out pieces
- Cut cardstock into a 2-1/2" x 8-1/2" piece strip and color as sky
- Color plane and glue onto bookmark
- Write a word onto clouds (ex - name, READ, BOOK, etc)
- Glue clouds onto sky to spell out word





Extension Activities:
- Go on an alphabet scavenger hunt.  Try to find an object that starts with each letter of the alphabet.
- Practice letter recognition by asking your child to find specific letters on different pages of the book you are reading.

Reading Story Time: August 8-9, 2016

Craft: Monster Bookmark
Kids colored a monster-shaped bookmark and glued on horns and sequins.


Literacy Extensions:
- Play the alphabet game while in the car.  Take turns finding the various letters of the alphabet on signs or license plates.
- There are a lot of fun foods that incoporate letters that you can have kids identify while they eat (i.e. Scrabble Cheezits, Alphabet Soup, M&Ms, etc.)
