Building Block Award Nominees: Week 3 -- 9/23/25

Story Times are held weekly on Monday and Tuesday mornings at 10:00 am. A monthly virtual Story Time is posted the first Tuesday of the month on the library's Facebook page.  It is available to view for one month before the next video is posted.

Craft: Chicken
- Print template onto cardstock or heavy paper
- Cut out pieces (body, legs, feet)
- Color pieces
- Fold body along dotted lines to make beak and wings
- Glue legs to body (optional -- accordian fold legs)
- Glue feet to legs



Extension Activities:
- Play a game of Simon Says.
- Visit a farm or local park with chickens (such as Suson Park).

Craft: Woo Hoo Chicken
- Print template at left onto cardstock or heavy paper
- Cut out pieces
- Color body and feet
- Fold down wing
- Glue feet to bottom of body




Extension Activities:
- Learn more about baby animals.  There are a lot of great baby animal informational books at the library.
- Have fun with some simple animal yoga poses.  Bari Koral has a lot of fun yoga videos at www.youtube.com/@yogapalooza.

Craft: C is for Crab
- Print out template on cardstock or heavy paper.
- Cut out pieces (C, eyestalks, and pinchers).
- Color pieces.
- Turn C sideways so opening at bottom.
- Glue pinchers to sides.
- Glue eyestalks to top.


Extension Activities:
- Make a collage of items that start with the letter C.  Let your child cut out pictures from a magazine or draw items that start with the letter C and arrange on a piece of paper to make a collage.  Don't worry if they pick items that start with the letter K.  Both letters can have the same sound.  Simply mention it and move on to the next item.
- As "clock" starts with the letter C, this is a great time to explain what a clock looks like and the basics of telling time.
