Story Times are held weekly on Monday and Tuesday mornings at 10:00 am. A monthly virtual Story Time is posted the first Tuesday of the month on the library's Facebook page. It is available to view for one month before the next video is posted.

Max and Ruby's Preschool Pranks by Rosemary Wells
Why Did the Monster Cross the Road? by R.L. Stine
- Draw a squat bowling pin shape for chicken's body and cut out
- Draw two chicken legs (triangles at end of long skinny rectangles and cut out)
- Draw a splat for tail feathers and cut out
- Cut a skinny cloud like shape for head feathers and cut out
- Color pieces
- Glue together as shown in picture at left
Extension Activities:
- Check out a book of jokes for kids from the library and share the jokes with family and friends.
- The Chicken Butt joke relies on rhymes to work. See if your child can come up with more rhymes for various chicken body parts to continue on the joke.

Craft: Coffee FIlter Flowers
- Color a coffee filter on both sides
- Fold coffee filter in half and then into quarters before twisting bottom point into flower. You can adjust the edges to open up the flower some.
- Twist pipecleaner around bottom point of flower for stem
Extension Activities:
- Explain what a fractured fairy tale is to your child. Then ask them how the traditional tales would change if just one thing was changed in them (ex - Jack is scared of heights while climbing the Beanstalk, Cinderella loses her gloves instead of her shoe).
- Hold a fairy tale movie marathon. Watch different movie versions of the same fairy tales and see how they are different.

Chicken Story Time: May 6-7, 2019

Chicken Story Time by Sandy Asher *
Chicken Wants a Nap by Tracy Marchini *
Chickens to the Rescue by John Himmelman
Minerva Louise and the Red Truck by Janet Morgan Stoeke
Craft: Chickens in a Nest
This week's craft is based on the above picture. Kids colored three chicken cutouts. They also colored a paper plate cut in half. The chickens were glued to one half of the plate. The other half of the plate was either glued or stapled to make it into a nest.
Extension Activities:
- Chicken Butt is a book of rhymes for body parts. See if your child can come up with more rhymes for various body parts.
- Practice counting while reading the books. Ask your child to count how many chickens are on each page of Chicken Story Time or Chickens to the Rescue.
