Adventures in the Swamp -- 7/23/24

Story Times are held weekly on Monday and Tuesday mornings at 10:00 am. A monthly virtual Story Time is posted the first Tuesday of the month on the library's Facebook page.  It is available to view for one month before the next video is posted.

Craft: Swamp Monster

- Print template onto cardstock or heavy paper

- Cut out pieces (head, fins)

- Color pieces

- Glue head into a tube

- Glue fins to side of swamp monster's head

Extension Activities:

- Swamps, bayous, and marshes are all types of wetlands.  Learn more about how they are the same and how they are different.

- Play a game of Leap Frog or Hopscotch using lily pads.  Make simple lily pads from construction paper or draw them with chalk.

Craft: Green Sheep

- Print out template onto cardstock or heavy paper

- Cut out sheep and color

- Cut green paper into small strips

- Optional: Tear green paper into smaller strips, curl the strips, or fold them

- Glue green paper onto sheep

Extension Activities:

- Riddles are basically short mysteries.  Ask your child some riddles to see if they can "solve" the answers.

- Have fun writing secret messages.  Use a white crayon on white paper to write a message.  Then brush over the message with watercolor paint.  The message should appear through the paint.
