Dog Days by Becky Citra
Little Book of Big Fears by Monica Arnaldo

Craft: Standing Dog
- Cut template out of cardstock or heavier paper.
- Color template pieces -- body, head, tail.
- Fold body on dotted line to make it stand.
- Glue head to top front of body and tail to back front of body.

Extension Activities:
- This week's book is about being scared.  Have a discussion with your child about what they fear (i.e. storms, dark, dogs, etc.) and ways they can deal with those fears.
- Many kids find that reading to an animal can be less stressful than reading to another person as they don't have to worry about mispronouncing words.  Ask your child to read to their pet if they have one.  If they don't have a pet, read to a stuffed animal.
- In this week's book Mouse describes the different characters.  Ask your child to describe the various family members with just two or three descriptive words.
