Craft: Gorilla Puppet

- Color template of gorilla's face before cutting it out
- Glue face onto popsicle/craft stick
- Twist a pipecleaner around stick below the head to make gorilla's arms.






Extension Activities:
- Encourage your child to get up and move by acting out the animals during the story.
- Ask your child to use their imagination to come up with more animals to extend the story.
- Go outside to look at the clouds.  See if you can find any that look like animals.

Craft: Gorilla Puppet
This week's craft is based on the picture at left.  The kids colored a gorilla head cutout and glued to a jumbo craft stick.  Then a pipe cleaner was twisted around the craft stick to make the gorilla's arms.

Extension Activities:
- Encourage your child to get up and move by acting out the various types of activities from Still a Gorilla.
- This week's letter is "I".  Have your child point the letter "I"s as you are reading books.

Craft: Frog Mask
This is a very simple mask made from the ring of a paper plate.  The center of the plate is cut out.  Two large circle eyes are glued to the colored plate along with a red paper tongue that can be curled.

Literacy Extensions:
- Play a game of pretend with your child.  Call out different animals for your child to pretend to be.
- After reading Emma Kate, discuss which is the imaginary friend -- the little girl or the elephant.  Point out the visual clues given throughout the book.
