Story Times are held weekly on Monday and Tuesday mornings at 10:00 am. A monthly virtual Story Time is posted the first Tuesday of the month on the library's Facebook page.  It is available to view for one month before the next video is posted.

Craft: Following Directions Sheet

- Print sheet template onto white paper 

-Print diamond templates onto colored paper -- either red, blue, yellow, orange, purple, or green -- and cut out

- Complete the sheet following the directions

Extension Activities:

- Play a game of Simon Says or Red Light, Green Light.

- Make a simple recipe together with your children.

Craft: Gorilla Puppet
This week's craft is based on the picture at left.  The kids colored a gorilla head cutout and glued to a jumbo craft stick.  Then a pipe cleaner was twisted around the craft stick to make the gorilla's arms.

Extension Activities:
- Encourage your child to get up and move by acting out the various types of activities from Still a Gorilla.
- This week's letter is "I".  Have your child point the letter "I"s as you are reading books.

Craft: Clip-On Ladybug
Children colored a bug body and two ladybug wings before gluing them together.  They then glued the completed bug to a clothespin so it can clipped to the child's clothes.

Literacy Extensions:
- Extend Rhyming Dust Bunnies by having your child come up with more rhyming words.
- Jan Thomas books are great for sight words.  Have your child try to find various sight words throughout the book as you are reading them.

Let's Pretend! Story Time: November 2-3, 2015

Craft: Frog Mask
This is a very simple mask made from the ring of a paper plate.  The center of the plate is cut out.  Two large circle eyes are glued to the colored plate along with a red paper tongue that can be curled.

Literacy Extensions:
- Play a game of pretend with your child.  Call out different animals for your child to pretend to be.
- After reading Emma Kate, discuss which is the imaginary friend -- the little girl or the elephant.  Point out the visual clues given throughout the book.

Craft: Bug Headband
The headbands we made were very similar to those pictured at left.  The main difference is that we had paper strips for the antennae instead of pipecleaner.

Literacy Extensions:
- Discuss with your child the life cycle of a butterfly (i.e. Waiting for Wings)
- See how many different kinds of bugs your child can name (i.e. Some Bugs)
