Snow Story Time: January 7-8, 2019

Books:
Grandmother Winter by Phyllis Root

Craft: Snow Globe Picture
Children colored a picture of a snowglobe before gluing on silver sequins for the snow.

Extension Activities:
- Practice with scissors by making paper snowflakes.  You can also make them out of coffee filters for easier cutting and circular snowflakes.
- Talk with your child about the conditions needed for snow (i.e. water in the air, cold temperatures, etc.).  Include questions such as what times of year we get snow and what they like to do in the snow.

Craft: Paper Plate Snowglobe
This weeks craft is pictured above.  The kids colored the outer ring of a paper plate before gluing on a snowman cutout and snowflake sequins.

Literacy Extensions:
- Talk about the different things you can do in the snow (i.e. sledding, building snowman, etc.)
- Read the book Snowflake Bentley and learn about how all snowflakes are unique and completely different.

What Do You Feel? Love Story Time: February 10-11, 2014

I Love You Because You're You by Liza Baker
Love Monster by Rachel Bright *
Old Bear and His Cub by Olivier Dunrea *
What Do You Love? by Jonathan London

Craft: Hearts Necklace
Each child was given three hearts to color along with beads and a piece of curling ribbon.  The hearts could be glued together or strung onto the ribbon individually with the beads to make a necklace.

Literacy Extensions:
- With your child try to come up with expressions to show how much you love each other (i.e. Guess How Much I Love You and I Loathe You)
- See how many rhymes your child can come up with for the words "I", "love", and "you".

Snow Story Time: January -7, 2014 - Cancelled due to Snowy Weather

This week's story time was not held due to the snowy weather.  Hopefully, we will be able to share these books and craft at Miss Amy's Story Time @ Chick-Fil-A on Friday, January 10 @ 9:30 a.m.

Craft: Snowflake
This week's craft could be made into either a magnet or an ornament to hang.  Each child was given a snowflake cutout to color and decorate with sparkles.

Literacy Extensions:
- Talk about the conditions needed for the different types of precipitation (i.e. rain, ice, snow, etc.)
- Talk about the clothing needed during winter to protect from the cold (i.e. Froggy Gets Dressed)
