Royal Stories: The Princess and the Pit Stop -- 4/15/25

Each month, Miss Amy records a virtual Story Time that goes along with the monthly theme.  It will be posted monthly in the morning of the first Tuesday of the month.  (The video is available to watch for one month before a new one is uploaded.)

Craft: Crown
- Print template (at left) onto cardstock or heavy paper
- Cut out crown pieces
- Color pieces
- Optional -- Glue on sequins for jewels
- Glue pieces together into headband to fit head



Extension Activities:
- At the end of the The Princess and the Pit Stop they had a dance contest.  Have a fun royal dance party.  Try out different dances.
- Play a game of Telephone.  Have several children line up in a row.  Whisper a sentence into the first child's ear.  Have them then whisper that sentence into the next child's ear and so on through the line.  See how the sentence changed by the end of the line.

Craft: Airplane
- Cut out a 1-1/2" x 8-1/2" strip of heavy paper or cardstock
- Color before pinching the ends of the strip together and gluing to make the plane's body
- Cut out two 1" x 4-1/4" strips of heavy paper or cardstock
- Color both strips of paper
- Fold one strip of paper in half and then fold up the ends about 1" from original fold.
- Glue the folded strip to the pinched end of the plane's body for the tail
- Glue the other strip to towards the top front of the plane's body for the wings
- Optional: Draw eyes onto front of plane.


Extension Activities:
- Play a game of car bingo.  Fill out a bingo grid with color and types of vehicles (car, bus, truck, etc).  Then mark off as you see the different types.  The first to get a full line wins.
- Take a field trip to the National Museum of Transportation.

Craft: Ship in a Bottle
The kids were given a bottle with a boat cutout to color.  They then glued on blue sequins and ocean-themed sequins for decoration.


Literacy Extensions:
- See how many different types of transportation your child can list.  Give them clues if needed.
- Visit the Transportation Museum in Kirkwood to view the different types of transportation.
