- Print template on heavy paper or cardstock.
- Cut off magic hat section and then cut out bunny, cat, and dinosaur.
- Color pieces.
- Glue craft sticks to the back of the cat, bunny, and dinosaur.
- Cut a slit in the magic hat on the line.
- Stick the various animals through the slit to appear in the magic hat.


Extension Activities:
- Write (or draw) letters to send to your friends.
- Ask your child to find the similarities and the differences between themselves and their friends.

- Color front and back of small paper plate.
- Fold sides of paper plate and glue to make a triangle.
- Color, ears, eyes, and ears before gluing to plate to make fox's face.






Extension Activities:
- Play a game of hide and seek with your child.  A variation of this would be to have you hide the fox craft and have your child find it.
- Have fun with measurements.  Let your child measure how tall family members are with a tape measure.  Or ask them to tell you the members of your family from tallest to shortest.

Craft:  Octopus
- Color octopus head and eight strips of paper (legs/arms).
- Glue strips legs/arms to band at bottom of octopus’ head.
- Glue band with legs/arms into a circle to complete your octopus.
- Optional — Curl the edges of the octopus’ arms/legs.
(A limited number of crafts are available for pick up at the Arnold Branch Monday, 11/16 - Saturday, 11/21/20.)



Extension Activities:
- Take a poll of family members -- Are an octopus' tentacles arms or legs?
- Practice drumming with the videos from Musication on YouTube.  If you would like something quieter, try clapping along instead of "drumming".

Craft: Bunny Hat
- Print out and cut out bunny hat template.
- Color pieces (ears, head band, and extra band).
- Glue ears to top of head band.
- Glue or tape extra band to head band to make into hat.  Add an extra piece if needed.






Extension Activities:
- Discuss expectations of how you expect a story to go.  All three of this week's books defy expectations of how stories will proceed in some way.  Ask your child how you thought the books would go versus how they actually ended.
- Learn more about what different animals eat. There are several great books at the library on the topic that can be checked out.
- Read the poem "The Tyger" by William Blake that Fear the Bunny is based on.

Craft:  Worm
- String one bead onto pipecleaner and then fold in half so it is at the bend.
- String rest of beads onto folded pipecleaner (both ends together).
- Twist end of pipecleaner into ball so beads don't fall off.


Extension Activities:
- Ask your child to draw the illustrations for I Can Only Draw Worms since the author was not able to draw them.
- Learn about weather (especially storms) by checking out a book or video from the library on the topic.

- Cut out various shapes in different sizes (i.e. circle, triangle, square, rectangle, heart, etc)
- Glue shapes onto a piece of paper to make a picture






Extension Activities:
- Go on a shape scavenger hunt.  Ask you child to find things that are various shapes (i.e. TV = rectangle, clock = circle, etc.).
- Have some fun with play dough.  Ask your child to make the different shapes out of play dough.
- Practice scissor skills by asking your child to cut out shapes you've drawn on a piece of paper.

Craft: Rainbow Flower
- Color flower's center and craft stick (stem)
- Glue colored strips in a starburst pattern
- Glue flower's center in middle of rainbow starburst
- Glue craft stick to back of starburst
- Glue green leaves to craft stick stem
Option -- Print out a picture of your child and cut into a circle.  Glue to middle of starburst as the flower's center.




Extension Activities:
- Play a game of I Spy looking for items based on colors.
- Go on a color scavenger hunt.  See how many items of each color you can find.
- Sort items (i.e. MMs, Fruit Loops, buttons, etc) by color.

Numbers Snake 
- Color oval piece of paper into as snake's head
- Cut 12 strips of paper and write the numbers 1-12 on them
- Glue strips of paper into paper chain putting the links in numbered order 1-12
- Glue snake's head to #1 link




Extension Activities:
- Play a game of hopscotch.  Draw a hopscotch board outside with chalk.  Ask your child to fill in the squares with the numbers 1-10.
- Practice counting while you eat.  Ask your child to count how many chips, apple slices, etc they have to eat.
- Practice counting and colors at the same time by asking your child to count how many shirts they have in their closet of a particular color.
